The Sad Salamander’s First Video has Arrived
If you have not found the Sad Salamanders yet, you need to. I have mentioned them before and I am attempting to champion them as one of the premier jazz bands out there right now. They are, at the very least, a helluva lot of fun to listen to. Well, now they have released their first video.
Click HERE to check out the video for “My Parents Were Swingers.”
This music video has already gone on my personal rotation. It is sexy without being perverted and the song just rocks. I love this tune, actually, and it’s the one that kicks of their album “Cigarettes and Fishnets.” You can also see some of the great artwork that graces the cover of that CD on this video.
The Sad Salamanders are trying to harken back to a day that jazz was cool, and it was OK for men to look at men’s magazines without feeling like they were violating anyone or anything. This was back in the day when a young man named Hugh Heffner was having parties with jazz bands and hot women in his Playboy Mansion. Of course, the original Playboy Mansion was right here in Chicago, so I have a certain affinity for that kind of thing.
I am all for this attitude and this remembering of that particular time. I am a man born in the 70s and I missed all of that. Thanks to the Sad Salamanders I can experience a little bit of that kind of thing.
So, once again, I am advocating you go out and buy their album (once again, it is entitled “Cigarettes and Fishnets”) and that you check out their video. You can also click HERE for more information about the guy who leads this particular band, Scooter Pietsch.
I am slightly angry with Comcast right now. I use them as my e-mail server as well as for my internet, and apparently Scooter tried to give me this video as an exclusive for at least a week. He sent me an e-mail about it roughly a week ago and it never got to me. Comcast’s e-mail has suddenly been dumping things that are not SPAM into my SPAM-filter and it is rather annoying.
So, while it may not be a Jazz and Blues Lounge exclusive, and avaiable all over YouTube now, I am proud to provide the link for you all to enjoy. Forward it on to friends and relatives and anyone else who enjoys good, fun, swinging music.
