Of course, as I have been saying all week, the big thing going on this weekend in Chicago is the 25th Annual Chicago Blues Festival. However, there are other shows going on in and around town here in the Windy City. The weather is predicted to be very warm and humid with a good chance of showers and thunderstorms. The weekend is here and so is the month of June. I cannot believe that June is here, people. That means the year is already almost half over. How is that even possible? We have yet to have an actual spring yet here in Chicago.

Well, this is what many people consider to be the official start of the summer season. It is officially Memorial Day Weekend. Well, the weekend is here again and if you don’t mind dodging hail, lightning bolts and funnel clouds, you may want to head out and check out a live performance. There are a lot of great musicans out there in the jazz and blues genres that don’t necessarily have record contracts and such. This weekend, though, the weather dude is predicting storms. The same system that brought exciting tornado footage from Oklahoma is now crossing the Chicago area. So, that just adds a little extra spice to the whole going to the show thing.

Chicago is an interesting town.  It is a city that seems to be slowly expanding and expanding.  I guess that is not particularly new.  Most places call that “urban sprawl.”  Considering the number of independent cities that have officialy become suburbs and, therefore, part of the “Chicago Metro Area” I call it “significant improvement.”  Then again, I am biased.  I grew up within the city limits.
What this means is that there is great music even out in the ‘burbs.  When you visit Chicago, you are probably very tempted to stay downtown and just walk everywhere.  This is a pretty good …read more

Well, Mother Nature has pulled a nice prank on everyone around here.  Last nigh a bunch of really nasty and severe thunderstorms came through and by this morning, the general air temperature had fallen into the 30s.  It went from Spring into Winter within a matter of twelve hours.  You just have to love Springtime in the Midwest, don’t you?
