Just a reminder that another great free jazz festival is fast-approaching. I first started writing about the Glen Ellyn Jazz Festival months ago. I cannot believe that it is now close enough to July 12 that I can start writing about it as being right around the corner.

Thanks to WDCB, thanks to WDCB, thanks to WDCB. I felt so bad for yesterday’s post when I almost forgot to credit the greatest radio station in the world, I have been writing that last sentence over and over again on a chalkboard I found. OK, that may be a slight exaggeration, but I would hate to tick off the station I rely on so heavily to keep everyone, including myself, informed about jazz and blues shows every weekend.

I kind of feel bad talking about the Chicago weather all of the time on this blog.  This is a blog about jazz and blues, not a blog about weather.  I happen to be obsessed with weather (NO!, you must be saying, REALLY?) and I spend much of my time checking on weather, but that doesn’t mean I should unload on all of you here.

I recently was writing about how Buddy Guy is performing a bunch of shows at his place, Buddy Guy’s Legends.  I have been championing people going to see these shows.  Buddy, sadly, is not getting any younger and while I have not heard any rumors about his health and he seems happy, hale and hearty, the fact is one can never tell.  He is a legend and I understand, and from what I have seen, his live performances are electrifying and exciting.  This is a guy who loves music and loves to perform.

Just doing some quick checking around.  There is plenty of great jazz tonight in the Chicao area.
Head on to the Green Mill for some late night jazz.  From midnight to 4 am it’s the After Hours Jazz Party with Sabertooth.  From Midnight to 2 am there is a $5 cover.  No cover after that.  Saber tooth features  Cameron Pfiffner – tenor sax, Pat Mallinger – alto & tenor sax, Pete Benson – Hammond B-3 organ, Ted Sirota – drums.
