It was my original intent to hunt down some video somewhere of the Sad Salamanders performing live.  Apparently such an animal does not, as yet, exist.  Guys, you need to get on that.  Start posting to YouTube or something, wouldja?  I spent the whole weekend grooving to your awesome CD “Cigarettes and Fishnets” and wanted to spread a little more cheer around the the public, and couldn’t.

So, it was a night for looking up musicians in the modern day on MySpace again.  I have to admit, I have started to enjoy doing this.  Not all of the music I hear I like, but the ones that strike me as particularly good, I like to show off to you guys.  Plus, it makes a pretty easy posting

Of course, no jazz website, or a website claiming to write anything about jazz, would be complete without a mention of the great saxophone player, Charlie “Bird” Parker.  Of course, the mention of his name can also bring about controversy amongst jazz fans.  Not everyone things Charlie was the greatest and even during his lifetime, he was a bit controversial.  There are also many myths about him and rumors that started back when he was playing and continue to this day.
