When it comes to jazz you run across certain names and they are usually whispered by fans with a kind of awe.  For me, as you may already know, that name is Miles Davis.  For my brother, it is Charlie “Bird” Parker.  For some it is John Coltrane.  One of the names you hear whispered a lot by people who want to be jazz afficianados is Eric Dolphy.  I wanted to provide you a link HERE to a great article I have found about Mr. Dolphy.

I love reading entertainment magazines.  I hate to admit that I find interviews with movie stars compelling reading.  At the very least, I read “Entertainment Weekly” which actually discusses movies and doesn’t just show pictures of whomever Jessica Simpson is dating.
They also provide cool information about things like Miles Davis box sets.  Yes,  it is another edition of my “Bryan’s Wish List of Box Sets.”  This one is called “Miles Davis:  The Complete On the Corner Sessions.”

When I worked at the jazz radio station on the campus of Webster University in the earl 90s, a lot of us who were not jazz fans when we started, slowly became fans of the music as time went on.  Some of the people I worked with became fans of some of the more modern jazz musicians.  While I certainly liked music by the likes of Tom Scott and David Sanborn, I sort of developed a soft spot for the classic jazz musicians.

I feel like maybe this blog is becoming too much of some kind of musical lecture or something rather than anything interactive.  I cannot thank the people who visit this blog on a daily basis enough.  However, it seems that many of you read it and then move on.  Of course, the great thing about a blog is that it is interactive.

Not too long ago, I made a personal recommendation for your classic jazz collection.  That one was the album “Kind of Blue” by Miles Davis which was the album that completely turned me into a jazz fan.  I wanted to take a moment to recommend another one.
