Jazz & Blues Lounge

Every week I rave about Chicago radio station WDCB and what they do. I can’t help myself. Here in Chicago, our options are very limited when it comes to listening to jazz on the radio. At one time the local NPR outlet, during the nighttime hours, used to broadcast classic jazz music. Then someone decided that they should do other things and jazz fans lost a major outlet. Fortunately, this has been a major boon to humble College of DuPage, publicly-funded, suburban radio station WDCB.

So, what do you get when a writer’s schedule gets so jammed he has to try and write his jazz and blues blog entries before work and before his boss gets in?  You get a lot of blog entries where he can copy huge portions from other things and places, after giving proper credit, of course, and lost of lists.  Hey, I have a word count to maintain here and I don’t have all the time in the world to write those nice, well-researched articles about jazz greats even though there are about a million more to write about.

As I was posting the activites for the weekend yesterday, I couldn’t help but notice that the information about what was happening at The Velvet Lounge indicated that it was happening at its “new location.”  Now, I have known that the Velvet Lounge was moving because it was all over the website for the pre-eminent jazz club in Chicago.  So, I decided to do a little investigating.
