So, while some may accuse me of featuring an artist who is not technically a blues performer, I would have to say you are incorrect there. Just like Stevie Ray is known as a rocker these days, he did plenty of great blues tunes.

Here’s a live performance of Kenny doing “Shotgun Blues:”

Kenny is a bit like Carlos Santana in that he doesn’t do the singing. He lets his guitar do the work for him and, as you can see, that is more than enough.

So, if you are in town and want to see a great performance, I have to recomend the Kenny Wayne Shepherd one at “Blues on the Fox” this weekend. Sadly, because it is my birthday this weekend and I am out doing family birthday stuff that night, I will not be able to attend. If you do, however, and want to write about it here, just let me know.

By the way, I am still trying to find some way to post as I “fest” tomorrow. I have been testing Utterz and Spinvox. Utterz seems to work, but I have to go into my Utterz account and force the voicemails onto my blog instead of them posting by themselves, for some reason. As for Spinvox, I can’t seem to get that to work. That is supposed to convert my voicemails into text, but nothing ever appears on my blog.

Still, the weather is supposed to be pretty nice here in Chicago this weekend. Granted, you would think the world was going to end the way the weather people are going on about the thunderstorms that are supposed to come through here on Friday into Saturday. Well, I was having one of those days, you know, where I am running around doing laundry and other errands, convinced I had written an entry last night that would post this morning. You know, we can do that do, right? I just learned it myself and became convinced by some others that it was the way to go. I used to just write one post a day, anytime of day, and post it right then and there, and that way I knew I was covered.

Well, now that I post ahead of time, I tend to lose track of what posted when. So, the thing that posted yesterday, I wrote Thursday night, etc., etc. I think you get the picture.

It was when I came back to the ol’ apartment I realized that I had not posted anything for today and, even now, as I write this I am not sure. Thankfully, WDCB has more shows, particulary jazz shows, that are going on during this long weekend, thus giving me at least one thing jazz-related to write about.

So, get out and see a show this weekend and enjoy. If you do it, then get back to me and tell me how it was, I’d be glad to post your review here.
