I am always open for free stuff, so I said yes. Turns out, the CD is awesome and I have raved about them ever since and done everything I can to promote the hell out of the thing and get everyone to listen. One of the things they did was post a video for the first song off of the CD on YouTube. For some reason, about a week or so ago, YouTube decided to remove the video for reasons that are, at best, murky.

Well, fan of the Sad Salamanders, you ever-growing legions, the good news is that you cannot keep a Salamander, sad or otherwise, down. There is also the fact that there are now more places you can post videos than just YouTube. So, without further ado, here is where the video is in the words of the Salamanders’ fearless leader, Scooter Pietsch:

“After being banned from YouTube, Sad Salamanders’ video “My Parents Are Swingers” is back and itching to be watched. How YouTube thinks it can continue its streak of overwhelming popularity and NOT broadcast clumsy, black & white footage of strippers from the 1950’s set to an infectious modern bachelor pad soundtrack, utterly confounds me.

Set your cursors to stun and steer towards these coordinates of pure joy.

Yahoo – http://video.yahoo.com/watch/2732516/7953421

Vimeo – http://www.vimeo.com/1057884

Thanks for listening – and watching!

Scooter
Head Salamander”

I believe with the Yahoo one, I can embed the video, but I would rather you click on the links and visit the video that way. Really crank up those hit numbers and let the folks at YouTube wonder what the hell they did wrong, OK?

The video is a helluva lot of fun, so is the song, so is the CD, so what the hell are you doing still reading this thing? Go listen to some Sad Salamanders.

Post from: Jazz & Blues Lounge

A Sad Tale from a Sad Salamander: What is the Deal YouTube?

Bands

Chicago

jazz

media

records

albums

CDs

Cigarettes and Fishnets

groups

music

musicians

Sad Salamanders

I got an e-mail from the fearless leader of the Sad Salamanders the other day. It appears that the video, which you have seen oosted here and linked to here and talked about here, has been removed from YouTube. I hope Scooter doesn’t mind me cutting and pasting his e-mail, but he writes:

“As if there aren’t enough problems in the world, we must contend with this!

For some unexplained reason, the video to the Sad Salamanders song ‘My Parents Are Swingers’ has been taken down from YouTube. I’m trying to figure out why, but as with any typical corporate internet presence, it is almost impossible to find a way to contact YouTube about this. All it says on the site is ‘This video has been removed due to terms of use violation’ with out an email notification or explanation. In the mean time, we will find a new place to host the video and send you the link as soon as we do.

Scooter”

As such, it seems that you will not be able to find the video for “My Parents Are Swingers” on YouTube at the moment. It seems like you gain a little and you lose a little. They got onto the playlist of WDCB, but they lose their video on YouTube.

I am not sure why YouTube decided to remove the video. It was a tad risque, but there was no nudity and nothing worse than you’d see on your average network TV show these days. Heck, I recently saw a “Law & Order: SVU” that had a rape scene almost as violent as those I had seen on cable and in the movies. So, I am stumped as to what YouTube was thinking.

I would love to champion a campaign to get the Salamanders back on YouTube. At the same time, I can’t help but hope the find a better, more accepting place to post their video. Wherever it ends up, I will be sure to post a link or find a way to direct you to it right here.

Post from: Jazz & Blues Lounge

Saturday Morning and Emotional Lizards

Bands

Chicago

jazz

records

albums

CDs

Cigarettes and Fishnets

groups

music

musicians

Sad Salamanders

Songza

It is a Saturday morning here in Chicago and the weather is vintage Chicago. In short, it was sunny and bright when I woke up, but now it’s cloudly and threatening rain less than an hour later. It is also that weird mid-ranged temperature when you really should wear a jacket, but it may just be warm enough to get away without wearing on at the same time. No wonder every Chicagoan about this time of year is sick or has a constant headache.

So, I was noodling around on my computer and started playing “Cigarettes and Fishnets” the Sad Salamanders CD. Before too long, any feelings of melancholy or sadness vanished. I love that opening tune and I feel a bit like I have been ignoring them in the past few weeks.

I was in the mood to share my good mood listening to the Sad Salamanders (the Emotional Lizards of the headline…get it? Yeah, I amuse myself…). So, wondered I thought I would share their, currently, only video fr a song off of their new album.

So, I thought I would go ahead and post one of their tunes. In fact, it is the first song off of their album and, like I have mentioned before, I think it swings. I almost said “it rocks” and I believe I have said that before in my reviews of the album, but someone that doesn’t seem writer for a jazz blog.

So, enjoy the tune “My Parents Are Swingers” from the group the Sad Salamanders. Their CD, “Cigarettes and Fishnets,” is available at places like CD Baby right now and I strongly suggest you add it to your playlist right now.

Post from: Jazz & Blues Lounge

Getting Happy with the Sad Salamanders

Chicago

jazz

records

albums

CDs

Cigarettes and Fishnets

groups

music

musicians

Sad Salamanders

A while back I wrote about a jazz group that had written me after finding the website. They are a group that calls themselves “The Sad Salamanders.” While their promotional stuff sounded great, that’s what promotional stuff is supposed to sound like. One of their members, Scooter Pietsch, said he would be glad to send me a copy of their album, “Cigarettes and Fishnets.” Well, the CD finally arrived and I have listened to it. Folks, you need to get yourself a copy of “Cigarettes and Fishnets.” Check them out at www.myspace.com/sadsalamander. You can also check out www.scootermusic.com.
