I got an e-mail from the fearless leader of the Sad Salamanders the other day. It appears that the video, which you have seen oosted here and linked to here and talked about here, has been removed from YouTube. I hope Scooter doesn’t mind me cutting and pasting his e-mail, but he writes:

It is a Saturday morning here in Chicago and the weather is vintage Chicago. In short, it was sunny and bright when I woke up, but now it’s cloudly and threatening rain less than an hour later. It is also that weird mid-ranged temperature when you really should wear a jacket, but it may just be warm enough to get away without wearing on at the same time. If you have not found the Sad Salamanders yet, you need to.  I have mentioned them before and I am attempting to champion them as one of the premier jazz bands out there right now.  They are, at the very least, a helluva lot of fun to listen to.  Well, now they have released their first video.

A while back I wrote about a jazz group that had written me after finding the website.  They are a group that calls themselves “The Sad Salamanders.”  While their promotional stuff sounded great, that’s what promotional stuff is supposed to sound like.  One of their members, Scooter Pietsch, said he would be glad to send me a copy of their album, “Cigarettes and Fishnets.”
