Once More for the Salamanders

by balaspa on February 28th, 2008

If you have been keeping an eye on this blog, you will see that the Sad Salamanders sensation has started to grow.  Ok, well, I had one of the guys responsible for the group leave a comment and then a fan leave another comment.  Granted, the fan, for all I know, could be a relative of that particular band member, but considering it’s mostly my own family that has purchased all of the books I have published, who am I to argue?

I did want to give another push for this group.  I do ask you, as fans of jazz and music in general, to seek out the Sad Salamanders.  There is nothing more tenuous than a group trying to get its footing and get things off the ground.  And, for my money, the Sad Salamanders are a group that I want to have around for a long time.

Check out their MySpace page.  Give a listen to the music.  Scooter, their fearless leader, has assured me that live performance videos are forthcoming.

I have had their CD, “Cigarettes and Fishnets,” on constant replay in my car.  I thought it was great when I first listened, over the past week I have grown more and more fond of it.  This is great stuff and I am dying to see what else they come up with next.

So, support your local Sad Salamander.  I don’t care what part of the world you live in, consider them local, OK?  Check out their MySpace page and then purchase their CD.  It even comes in a cardboard sleeve like a miniature record album.

Before too long, you will have a powerful urge to wear pajamas all day and perhaps start your own men’s magazine.  Yeah, this is the kind of music Hugh Heffner would probably listen to.

Then, go see them live.  There ain’t nuthin’ cooler than checking out a new band live.  That way, when they become huge, you can say you saw them when…  Think of the people who saw Hendrix before he was HENDRIX.  Not that the Salamanders are necessarily Hendrix, but you get what I mean.

I am officially making the Sad Salamanders the official jazz band of the Jazz and Blues Lounge.  Now, if I could only figure out how to get music to play on this site.  Hey, here’s hoping they mention the site a time or two (hint, hint).  ;-)

Thank you and now back to our regularly scheduled programming
