New Releases for October

by balaspa on October 16th, 2007

I would love to tell you that I was so up on all of the jazz music scene that I could list all of the new CDs that are supposed to be coming out in the month of October and for the rest of the year.  The probem is that is pretty much impossible.

You see, the world of jazz is one that is so old, not only are there new artists putting out new music for all of the world to enjoy, but those classic albums by some of those masters I have been writing about lately get re-issued just about as much as those new releases.

There is a website for those who are truly into jazz and it is a site for jazz fans and created by jazz fans.  Yes, there is this site right here, that you are reading, but even I have to use other sources from time to time.  The site is Allaboutjazz.com and, well, it has just about the most comprehensive list of up-coming new releases and re-issues I have ever seen.

You can find their list of new releases by clicking    here.

I wasn’t even aware that Harry Connick, Jr. had a new album coming out.  I am not big on vocalists in jazz, but there’s something about Harry I kind of like.

If you have the time to listen to, and the money to buy, all of the albums listed there just for October…I envy you.  On the othe hand, in this modern world of MP3s and downloads, maybe you actually can.

All About Jazz is really quite a resource, isn’t it? I love being able to check out the upcoming releases; I just wish there was some sort of categorization - their list is almost too comprehensive. It’s hard to read through all that . . . well kind of - I did find John Calloway’s new album, as well as Pablo Ziegler’s latest. Wait, a new album from Rosa Passos? Hmmm . . . there goes this month’s paycheck!

Exactly! When I first began writing about it, my intent was to pick a few albums I thought would be worth mentioning…then myeyes kept rolling up and up and up and before I knew it it seemed like hundreds of new releases and re-releases were coming out.

To hell with it, thought I, just link it and let your readers figure it all out!
