New Blues Album - Legenday Record Label
I have written on here before about the legendary Alligator Records label here in Chicago. There was a time when I actually worked right near the offices of Alligator Records. I wish I had a great story about running into some blues legend there, but that didn’t happen. It’s just that in Chicago, if you have any interest in the blues, you are going to hear about Alligator Records. They are just one the best in town and there’s no fighting it.
I have been spending a lot of time talking about the local jazz scene. That happens when a major festival is coming up. There is a lot of planning going into trying to cover that event. I want to share as much of the Chicago Jazz Festival as possible.
However, I hate to neglect the blues folks. When looking for a quick fix and information about the Chicago blues scene, you just need to quickly look at Alligator Record’s website.
So, out this very week is a new album from Lee Rocker entitled “Black Cat Bone.” By checking out this link you can go and order the album right from Alligator Records. You can also listen to clips. If the clips are any indication, this is an album that any blues fan MUST have. I know I plan to add it to my collection ASAP.
ALSO…
Alligator is announcing the three of its biggest artists are receiving “Living Blues” Awards from Living Blues magazine. The recipients are Koko Taylor, Marcia Ball and Lil’ Ed Williams. Lil Ed got Blues Artist of the Year. Koko Taylor got Blues Artist of the Year (Female). Finally, Marcia Ball got the Most Outstanding Musician in the Reader’s Poll.
