My Random MySpace Page Recommendation
I have to admit I totally stole this idea from another b5music blogger. At the same time, when it comes to days like this one, days when I am a bit down or discouraged, nothing is better than roaming the music sites on MySpace. When I come across one I like, I love talking about it. I figure, it does a couple of things. First, it makes writing this blog an easy thing. Second, it shows you some new music.
I love horn players. This is especially true when it comes to jazz musicians. Yes, sure, Thelonius Monk was a genius too, but Charlie Parker and Miles Davis were some of my first favorites. There is something very cool about a guy who knows how to play the sax.
So, it was with delight that I stumbled across this MySpace page today: www.myspace.com/phildoyle.
Phil is a Chicago jazz guy and he plays the sax. He is an up and comer. Judging from the music he has on his site, I think he has a real future in music and in jazz. I, for one, look forward to buying his first album or seeing him in concert.
I am not typically a fan of “free jazz” but I did enjoy listening to the songs he has posted on his site. To me, he seems to have a great technique with his sax. Plus, take a look at that picture. He looks like a guy made for playing in jazz clubs.
Sorry this is so short today. Still, I enjoyed this site and figure I would share. If you know a site I might like, please let me know.
Thanks
