Jazz With the Flu

by balaspa on March 20th, 2008

Well, your friendly neighborhood jazz and blues blogger apparently has come down with the flu.  I have been avoiding it all winter.  However, this past weekend I had to visit my grandmother in the hospital and there is no place worse to go when you want to avoid germs than a big building full of sick people.  I also had not slept well last week which always lowers the immune system’s defenses.

So, I am taking today to rest.  I would love to spend the day listening to jazz, in particular the Miles Davis Concert double-CD that is one of my favorites.  However, more than likely I am just going to dope up on NyQuil and sleep all day long and then all night long and hopefully not suffocate from the amount of gunk in my head.

So, for your jazz updates and some interesting news about jazz record labels and the signing of new people, I am going to send you HERE.  The website is a kind of online jazz magazine called Jazz Review.  It’s pretty cool, although it does reprint what appears to be press releases instead of having actual news stories done by actual reporters.

There are a lot of jazz CD reviews and concert announcements there as well.  All in all, it’s kinda cool and should fill in nicely while I spend the day underneath my bed covers coughing and making noises like I am dying.

See you all again tomorrow!
