Jazz in Milwaukee

I have a brother. That’s not all I came here to tell you about today, but he and his lovely family live in Milwaukee. Milwaukee is a great town despite being in Wisconsin (relax Wisconsiners, I am in Illinois, we cannot resist picking on you). It is just close enough to Chicago to almost be a suburb, but the people up there vehmently deny having any proximity to Chicago. It’s kind of funny.

They have some great music festivals up there too. They have SummerFest every year and lots of great music acts play there every July. You may have heard of it. You may have gone.

When I was up there recently I discovered they have a summer-long event called “Jazz in the Park.” The following information is from OnMilwaukee, which is a cool weekly magazine that has an online edition which you can link to right there:

Event Description

Come on down for Milwaukee’s favorite summer outdoor music series! Jazz in the Park features diverse entertainment with acts originating from the Milwaukee area, the region, and across the nation. The series is free to the public and showcases everything from straight-a-head Jazz to Latin jazz and everything in between.
