Jazz and Blues Lounge

For more local information

OK, finding a good jazz and blues club in Chicago is actually more difficult than you might think.  There are so many, it’s hard to know which one to visit and which one will be worth the effort.

Quite honestly, one of the best resources for you to find information about all of the music that’s going on in Chicago is the Chicago Reader.  They can be found at www.chicagoreader.com.  They have really talented people reviewing everything from pop to classical.  They also devote a huge amount of ink and web space to covering jazz and blues.  Finally, they have a hugely extensive list of clubs for both jazz and blues enthusiasts.

For jazz clubs, click on this link.   You will find pretty much every jazz club in the city along with contact information and information about ticket costs, hours of operation, etc.

For blues clubs, clock in this link.  Again, you have much of the same thing as the jazz clubs.  However, the Reader does lump “gospel” in with blues for some reason.

While I would prefer you came to this blog exclusively, I do believe in acknowledging those who inspire me and I am a fan of the Reader blog “Post no Bills” by Peter Margasak.  He does a great job of keeping you up-to-date on the entire Chicago music scene.  He is not exclusively blues and jazz, but he does cover the genres.  Click on this link to view Peter’s blog.

Hope this helps and please come back to read more at the Jazz and Blues Loung.
