I have a vision for this blog.  I imagine it being a place where those who love jazz and blues (but mostly jazz, as you may have noticed) can come and find out what’s going on in the music world that we all enjoy.  But I do hope that people who don’t know a thing about this music, either kinds, may stop by to look and read and maybe it will open a few doors.

There is a lot of modern jazz that follows the old traditions.  Too much of the new jazz and “smooth jazz” is just not for me.  I fell in love with the traditional jazz.  It is the history of the music that I love.  I am a history buff, so I love learning where things come from and how that affects where things are going.

So, I enjoy writing the articles about the “masters” of jazz.  I like to think that those new to the music will also find it interesting and that may lead to them expanding their horizons, and at least lead to some new downloads.

So, I do hope you enjoy this blog.  I hope that if you have loved jazz but never gave much thought to Louis Armstrong, you may be tempted to listen to some of his music, or take Chip’s suggestion and download his album recorded with Ella Fitzgerald.

I don’t think one man can cover all of jazz and blues.  There are too many roads to go down.  For example, I have never been a big fan of jazz vocalists, but I know people who would rather listen to nothing else.

I want this blog to be yours as much as mine.  I may do the writing, but I do hope you will tell me what you want me to write about.  Is there an artist you have a question about?  Ask me, and I will try to find it.  Is there a kind of music or artist you think deserves more press or coverage?  Let me know, and I will try to turn other people on to it.

So, anyway, that’s my thought tonight.  I hope you comment and I also hope you keep reading.
