The B5Media network:

Get to Know AllAboutJazz.com

There is a website I visit every week. I try hard to mention them here and give them as much credit as I can. They deserve it. The world of jazz music is filled with organizations trying to keep jazz music alive and doing so on an entirely volunteer basis. It’s tough to get paid when you love jazz. It’s a great genre of music, as is the blues, but jazz is not the most popular form of music out there. People are intimidated by it and that is too bad.

I am, of course, talking about the website AllAboutJazz.com. They are the people who help me with my weekly list of new releases and reissues. Without them, I couldn’t provide you with that information. Before I found them, finding that information was nearly impossible.

They have concert and CD reviews. They provide musical downloads. They have a master list of new releases and reissues. And, they need your help or, at the very least, are always looking for new people to work with them.

From their “Help Wanted” section:

“Join your fellow enthusiasts and help AAJ remain the most comprehensive, educational, and entertaining jazz resource on the web.
All About Jazz is looking to expand our staff of behind-the-scenes operators and has several opportunities available for individuals who wish to join our ever-growing community of enthusiasts, musicians, presenters, journalists, educators and industry professionals.

The positions below are all available and require varying degrees of time commitment—some as little as 15 minutes a day.

If you would like to join All About Jazz, please fill out this form.

AAJ is a volunteer yet thoroughly professional website. We’re a committed group (twelve years and going strong), we’re champions of the music, and we’re making a difference. We welcome your time and energy.

Thank you!
Your Friends at All About Jazz”

They have an even longer list of services and things to help you out if you happen to be a musician. You should check out that as well, when you visit their site. It’s a place that I have heard from other jazz fans that they truly love and enjoy visiting and, I have to admit, so do I.

When you do visit, if you like the site as much as I do, you may feel you want to send an e-mail complimenting them on the site. That’s always a very nice thing to do, of course. If you do, tell them you heard about the site here. I’m always looking to get my name spread around as much as possible.
